Mamie's Market is named after Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital's longest volunteer, Mamie Page. Mamie began volunteering at Kenneth Hall (the former St. Mary's) 25 years ago in 1983 after she retired from working 20 years at LeBelle Fashions.
Over the years, she has given 6,500 hours of service, never afraid to speak her mind or be of assistance where needed.
Mamie is very active in her church, True Light Baptist Church, and her community. She was born in Mississippi in 1924 and moved to East St. Louis at the age of 20.
She later married Frank and had one son who was later lost in an accident. She has two grandchildren and one great grandchild. |
